Mavic Cosmic Ultimate UST Disc Centerlock wheel

Ultimate is not just a name, it is the perfect description of this wheel. And that is now compatible with tubeless and clincher tires, but in any case only for disc brake road bikes.
At just 1225 g (pair), it achieves the ultimate balance of lightweight, top stiffness and aerodynamics.

The rim is based on a 100% carbon, 45mm high and 27mm wide NACA aero rim profile. Its complex fiber lay- up optimizes the stiffness-to-weight ratio. And the carbon top layer gets our attractive UD² finish.
Because the rim base is not drilled through, no rim tape is needed to make the rim airtight - this is the guarantee for trouble-free tubeless operation.

With 20 ultra-slim aero spokes each and extra-high, narrow hub flanges made of carbon, it actually and demonstrably offers aerodynamic advantages.

It is also ultra-stiff, thanks to spokes made of unidirectional carbon fibers that do not stretch. They run continuously from one side of the rim to the other - with R2R technology, two are replaced by a single spoke for every one, which also does not need to be firmly anchored to the hub. This also increases the stiffness of the wheel.

Industrial bearings with automatic bearing preload are used in the carbon hub shells. At the rear wheel, the Instant Drive 360 freewheel ensures lightning-fast frictional locking (40 engagement points = 9°) and minimal friction losses. The hubs are thru-axle compatible (front 12x100 mm, rear 12x142 mm), only for center-lock brake discs.

This wheel was designed, developed and patented by Mavic in Annecy (France). It is 100% handmade in France.
