Sapim Super Spoke The lightest steel spoke ever made.
The Sapim Superspoke was developed after a proposal by tune for extra light wheels.
(contrary to the picture the spokes have bent heads) A new grade of stainless steel enables Sapim to reduce the diameter of the spoke, whilst increasing its strength and fatigue resistance. Effectively, the
CX-Ray spoke decreases in weight by 17% (231 g vs. 278 g for 64 pcs. at 260 mm length) and
increases in strength by 120N in the middle section.
A new grade of stainless steel enables Sapim to reduce the diameter of the spoke, whilst increasing its strength and fatigue resistance.
You have to place great value on the correct spoke length. Caused by the higher elasticity use 1mm shorter spokes as the spoke calculator or your experience suggesting.
Spoke tension: You have to comply with our recommended spoke-tension to built a stiff wheel-set with the Super Spoke.
front min.950N rear min. 750N (opposite of the sprocket wheel) Of course it is better to use higher tension. The higher the tension the stiffer the wheel. Please attend also the requirements of the rim-manufacturer.
The tension of each wheel-side should be equal.
Friction: Use only aluminium-nipples from Sapim. They will reduce the friction on the thread caused by a special coating. It's responsible that less torsion will affect the spoke.
Custom components: Before assemble the spokes please check if the hub-flange and the spoke-holes are suited for the spoke flexure. Little spoke-holes up to 2.3mm are favourable.
Please avoid inflexions between Nipples and Spokes.
