Vulcanized tires made of natural rubber score with a very good price-performance ratio and high durability at the expense of comfort and performance.
Nylon is a carcass braid that is available in three main thread sizes - 33, 60 and 120 TPI (threads per inch) - and is wrapped around a wire bead or the aramid bead. The nylon braid is dipped in a bath of butyl rubber and then calendered (squeezed) between large steel rollers to produce the finished carcass. In bicycle tires, nylon offers a premium cost-benefit ratio due to its low price and comparative ease of processing.

Vulcanized synthetic rubber

To combine high durability with good riding characteristics, synthetic rubber is boiled and hardened. The result is Challenge's Vulcanized Clinchers: easy-running tires with high grip and good comfort at an affordable price.
