For gravel- & CX bikes.
The Lauf Grit is the perfect addition to any gravel bike - or to “gravel-up” any CX bike. It makes the bike more capable and more comfortable. While remaining light and lightning fast. Make your next adventure the most fun one yet!
The design of the Lauf Grit is based on eliminating all “moving parts”, and therefore, friction and maintenance. The monocoque carbon fiber structure delivers incredible strength, and the test-fork we have in our lab has already been “shocked” over 1 million times, without showing any signs of wear and tear. That equals more grinding than you’ll manage to cram into at least 5 years of action!
The springs on the Lauf Grit are made of military spec S2 glass fiber that is extremely tough on hits and flexible in the direction of the travel. The springs have been “shocked” in our test lab over 1.500.000 times reaching 22mm amplitude every time.
Progressive Spring Rate
The Lauf Grit has 30mm of travel with progressive spring rate. This means that the further the fork compresses the springs become stiffer. This helps to keep the fork from bottoming without sacrificing small bump compliance.
Small Bump Performance
The Lauf forks are designed to maintain the lightness and reliability of rigid forks while offering absorption and traction in small bumps that conventional suspension forks can’t match. The stiction and high unsprung weight of conventional suspension forks make them unable to keep up with high-speed input as brilliantly as the Lauf Grit.
The Grit works flawlessly in all weather conditions. Whether you find yourself in the freezing Antarctica or the scorching Sahara - it also loves salt and sand. Grab your rig and just ride!
We do not have cargo mounts on our forks but there are 3rd party solutions that can be used. For instance, the Twofish Unlimited Quick Cage adapters that can be used with a broad variety of cages. You can check them out in our online store here.
700c and 27.5"
The Grit likes to rub it in and grind its way forward. While doing that you can choose to run 700c wheels or 27.5" wheels.
Max tire width
700x42c and 27.5x2.1”
The Grit can take up to 42mm wide 700c tires and up to 2.1" wide 27.5" tires. That is a whole lot of rubber when things get dirty.
30mm / 1.18” travel.
This is the sweet spot for our forks. Since the travel is fairly short and progressive, we don’t need damping. That makes the fork a lot simpler and maintenance free.
900g / 1.98 lbs
The Grit is very light and suits very well on gravel and cyclocross bikes. Weight measured with 210mm steerer and Lauf axle.
250g unsprung weight
The low unsprung weight is one of the design elements that makes this fork extremely good at tracking small bumps and chatter which gives you great traction and isolates you from vibration.
Rider weight limit
110kg / 243lbs
This should be your weight in a race gear.
12mm or 15mm Lauf thru axle options.
We supply all forks with our own axles. We made a lightweight low profile axle which requires a 6mm allen key. If you prefer a lever, you can replace it with e.g. the RockShox Maxle
The Grit needs a 100mm wide hub with either a 12mm or 15mm thru axle.
The rake on the Grit is made to fit the slightly longer axle to crown than on most gravel/cx forks while maintaining steering characteristics of 45mm rake rigid fork.
Axle to crown
409mm (with 6mm sag)
The axle to crown on the Grit is slightly longer than on most rigid gravel/cx forks, which is necessary to incorporate the 30mm travel. Combined with the 47mm rake the Grit maintains the steering characteristics of a rigid fork with 45mm rake and 395mm axle to crown.
Tapered 1 1/8” - 1 1/4” (uncut length 300mm)
The Grit comes with a crown race for 1 1/2” lower bearing should that be necessary. If you have a 1 3/8” lower bearing (Specialized) you can purchase an adapter in our online store here.
Min rotor size
The Grit is made for flat mount brakes with a 160mm rotor as minimum. If you prefer a larger rotor a spacer can be used. And if you prefer a post mount brake you can use an adapter from TRP (Flat mount to post mount for 140mm rotor if you are using 160mm rotor) or Shimano (SM-MA-F140PDA if you are using a 160mm rotor). Add spacers as needed if you want to use a 180mm rotor.
