DT Swiss EXC 1200 Classic 30mm Disc 6-Bolt Wheelset Conquer the toughest trails, rocky ridges, and challenging root carpets without hesitation – with the DT Swiss EXC 1200 Classic wheels. Designed for the most daring routes, they offer exceptional durability even when things don’t go according to plan. Thanks to an advanced carbon manufacturing process, the carbon fibers are compressed to maximize strength, making these wheels the toughest MTB rims ever. A patented quality control process scans each rim layer by layer to ensure flawless performance from the first ride.
The asymmetric rim design provides additional strength at the rear and less weight at the front, while the 28 DT Revolite spokes at the front and 32 at the rear offer the perfect balance of lightness and toughness. The quick-engaging Ratchet DEG system with 90 teeth reduces the engagement angle and improves acceleration out of corners. The 180 Classic hubs are equipped with low-friction ceramic bearings that ensure a particularly smooth roll – and the wheels are ready to go immediately.
Patented Ratchet DEG Technology: The Ratchet DEG System from DT Swiss offers mountain bikers maximum reliability and performance. With 90-tooth ratchets, it enables fast and precise engagement. The low engagement angle of just 4° ensures even load distribution and reduces play on the trail.
The steel ratchets are larger than previous models, enabling efficient power transfer. Thanks to the innovative design, the bearing can be replaced without specialized tools, and the freehub body does not need to be removed – for easy maintenance and high user convenience.
The larger diameter of the freehub body ensures an optimal fit for the DEG ratchet and is only compatible with hubs that feature the Ratchet DEG system. The seal is placed directly on the freehub for extra protection against dirt and moisture.
DT Swiss Tubeless Technology: DT Swiss Tubeless technology ensures a reliable and comfortable ride by enabling the use of tubeless tires. The tubeless system eliminates the inner tube, reducing the risk of punctures and improving overall handling. The tire can be sealed with sealant to automatically close small punctures. The tubeless setup provides better traction and control as it allows for lower tire pressures without the risk of pinch flats. This technology is perfect for mountain bikers who rely on maximum performance and safety on technical trails and in bike parks.
ProLock Technology: DT Pro Lock technology ensures particularly stable wheels by injecting a two-component adhesive into the nipple threads. This prevents the spoke-nipple connection from loosening on its own and extends the lifespan of the wheels by 20 times compared to conventional nipples. The adhesive cures in 6-7 hours and allows multiple truing, with the adhesive strength decreasing slightly. DT Pro Lock is suitable for both manual and machine wheel building and works without the need for lubrication. All DT Swiss nipples are available with and without Pro Lock.
DT Swiss Bearing Technology for Mountain Bikes: DT Swiss hubs are known for their optimized bearing technology, which ensures efficient rotation and long-lasting durability. A key feature is the precise bearing preload construction: the axle is lightly preloaded during assembly, causing the inner rings of the bearings to press against the balls, generating minimal friction when installed. This preload ensures that the hub rotates with optimal efficiency after installation in the frame or fork, as the tension of the wheel attachment system compresses the axle and keeps the bearings in an ideal condition.
DT Swiss consciously avoids hubs with adjustable bearing play because systems with fine threads can quickly lead to excessive preload and damage the bearings. Instead, DT Swiss relies on years of experience and precise manufacturing tolerances to build play-free hubs that can withstand high loads. This technology not only allows for easy maintenance and quick conversions but also saves weight by eliminating the need for additional threaded components. DT Swiss bearing technology is used in both front and rear hubs, offering reliable performance for demanding mountain bike riders.
DT Swiss Carbonform Rim Technology – Break the Mold, Break Limits! DT Swiss Carbonform technology revolutionizes rim production with a process that guarantees light and long-lasting rims for long-term performance. Unlike conventional methods, the carbon fibers in the outer layers are left uncut, ensuring continuous strength in high-stress areas. The result is more consistent and reliable rims with fewer imperfections.
Directly out of the mold, the rims feature a patented outer carbon layer that ensures a flawless surface and optimized strength. 100% quality control ensures that only flawless rims are approved.
For additional protection, the Carbon Shield technology surrounds the rim with extra carbon layers that reinforce the most stressed areas and prevent structural weaknesses – for safe and powerful riding on demanding trails.
