    Besides a long life period and extremely well precision, the name DT Swiss stands for maximum performance.

    The DT Swiss 240s road rear hub hasnt a disc mounting system, though it can only be installed with a rim braking system.

    One of the biggest highlights of the DT Swiss 240s hubs is the unique freehub ratchet system (DT Swiss Ratchet System) which guarantees an extremely high load capacity and reliability.
    Maintenance is pretty easy because of the "no tool" concept by DT Swiss.
    Through the smooth rolling bearings made of stainless steel and a special coating, the DT Swiss 240s hubs reach an incredibly low roll resistance.
    The spoke heads of the DT Swiss 240s series dont have any tolerance to move themselves while driving, since the spoke holes were manufactured with a very high precision (this works against spoke breaks).
    Further advantages of the 240s hubs are their extremly low weight and the immunity against water and dirt.

    Features of the DT Swiss 240s hub series

    • Quick-Release
      The Quick-release wheel mounting system (developed 1922 by Tullio Campagnolo) is the standard system for mountain bicycles and road bicycles (worldwide!).

    • DT Swiss Ratchet System®
      This means a patented freehub system which utilizes precise star ratchets. These ratchets guarantee reliability and a maximum high load capacity.
      The routine maintenance is absolutly easy because of the "no tool" concept.

    • Stainless Cartridge Bearings
      These special bearings are sealed and manufactured of stainless steel (races and balls). They are of the highest quality for continuos low rolling resistance and a long life cycle.

    • "no tool" concept
      For common maintenance, you dont have to purchase special tools.

    • "Tripple butted"
      The spoke has 3 different diameters - though the spokes can be better optimized with the incoming forces. Of course, all these spokes were cold forged too!

    • "DT Swiss Thru Axle system®"
      A thru axle connection isn't compatible with the quick release standard (Contrary to the DT Swiss thru bolt system!). The thru axle is always integrated with the fork or the frame.
      Normally, the diameter of those axles is 12mm in the rear and 20mm in the front.

    • "DT Swiss thru bolt®"
      This system is fully compatible with the quick release standard.
      Instead of a 5mm shaft, the DT Swiss thru bolt is an alloy bolt with a diameter of 10mm in the rear and 9mm on the front.
      For MTBs using a disc brake, a thru bolt system is a substantially stronger and therebefore safer connection.
