  • Finally a mechanical disc brake that offers superior performance and is a snap to set up. The Spyre is a dual sided mechanical where both pads actuate providing even and precise clamping force. This translates into even pad wear and, with the addition of a simple cable barrel adjuster, the pads can be adjusted easily and hassle free. No frustration at completely adjusting the whole caliper, only to have it continue to drag the fixed side, adding wear! All of this in a incredibly thin 40mm wide, 154g slender package that works with any of the drop bar levers on the market. Available with 140mm or 160mm rotor and includes all mounting hardware, rotor, and adapters.

Excellent dual-piston disc brake unit at a good price.
If you want mechanical discs for ease of cable adjustment, these are excellent. They are not quite as good as hydraulics but for road use without excessive descents or commuting in the wet they are an excellent brake at an economical price.
The SLC variant is very slightly lighter for more money - but function is identical.
Careful with choice of lever - V-brake levers do not pull enough cable to activate this brake, choose levers suitable for cantilever brakes.

    Hint for breaking-in:
New disc brake pads require a certain break-in period in order to provide the full brake power.
The following procedure has proved oneself: drag braking on a downhill until the brake power noticeably increases. Then let the brake rotor cool out. Afterwards do 20 full stop brakings from a medium speed. Attention: the rotors get very hot, do not touch them!
