Continental's Vectran and Black Chili technologies have been radically applied to this uncompromising race tire set, specifically developed for the front and rear wheels of race bikes.
The Grand Prix Attack III benefits from its special Black Chili version offering the streamlined 23 mm front tire more grip with lower rolling resistance. The Grand Prix Force III is a powerful rear wheel specialist and with its 25 mm section combined with a fast Black Chili compound, it offers excellent traction and road handling that is second to none.
Both tires are made with Vectran puncture protection, a protective belt of super strong and extremely lightweight material beneath the bead. Wear levels can be easily monitored via indicators in the tread, details that show professionals are at work!
BlackChili Compound This unique tread rubber mixture which is only produced in Continental German factory has revolutionized bicycle tyres. The resultant compound showed a new relationship between grip and rolling resistance. This "Elevated level", as it was previously known, was given the name "BlackChili". The latest polymers, nanoscale soot particles and optimized fillers all guarantee a unique performance.
BlackChili Compound improves rolling resistance by 26% and provides 30% more grip than activated silica compounds. Premium tyres with BlackChili Compound also impress with higher mileage and unlike many multi-compounds, provide a constant ride from the first to the last kilometer.
Vectran Breaker Vectran is a synthetically manufactured high-tech fibre from a natural model. Like spider silk, Vectran is a liquid-crystalline polymer (LCP), spun from Vectra. Processed the result is a thread that is thermoplastic and has multifilaments. This semicrystalline material is harder then aramid, has five times higher tensile strength than steel and in addition, is also lighter than comparable nylon thread. Vectran maintains these attributes even in the most adverse weather conditions without influencing the rolling resistance negatively.
TirePositioningSystem (TPS) With the TyrePositioningSystem, the last little bit of what is currently technically possible has been exploited. The result is a pioneering front tyre and rear tyre system for road racing; to be found in GP Attack and Force combination. Motorcyclists have known for a long time: Different demands are made on a front tyre than on its rear counterpart.
The narrower front tyre provides reduced wind resistance and better handling. An adhesion-optimized tread mixture supplies the necessary grip especially for wet cornering. The wide rear tyre offers better traction thanks to a larger contact area and at the same time more comfort. Thanks to the fast rolling, optimized tread mixture and the larger contact area on the rear tyre, wear is reduced.
